Diploma in Agriculture
A three-year diploma covering modern farming techniques, soil science and crop management.
Description
The Diploma in Agriculture is a three-year polytechnic programme that trains students in modern farming techniques, soil science, crop management, irrigation, horticulture and agricultural economics. It is highly popular in northern states like Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
Students learn both the science and practice of agriculture — from seed selection and soil testing to pest management, farm machinery and post-harvest technology. The course combines classroom learning with extensive field work and practical training on college farms.
Graduates work as agriculture supervisors, field officers, extension workers and farm managers in government departments, agri-input companies, cooperatives and agri-startups. The diploma also serves as a base for higher studies like B.Sc Agriculture.
