Description
The Diploma in Optometry is an allied health course that trains students in eye care, vision testing, optical equipment handling and refraction. It is designed for early entry into the eye care and optical retail workforce.
Students learn anatomy and physiology of the eye, refraction, vision testing, optical dispensing, contact lens fitting, eye diseases and optical equipment operation. The course combines classroom learning with clinical training at eye hospitals and optical clinics.
Graduates work as optometrists, opticians, vision technicians and optical assistants in eye hospitals, optical retail chains (Lenskart, Titan Eye+), clinics and optical shops. Many also run independent optical stores.
