Description
The Indian Navy Matric Recruit (MR) is an entry-level defense pathway that allows young men and women to join the Naval forces directly after Class 10. Recruits serve as sailors in the executive, technical and medical branches, with a strong focus on discipline, physical fitness and service to the nation.
Recruits undergo rigorous basic training at INS Chilka followed by professional training in their assigned branch. Training covers drill, physical fitness, naval warfare basics, weapons handling, seamanship and service discipline. After training, sailors serve on naval ships, submarines and shore establishments.
Graduates serve as sailors in the Indian Navy with opportunities for promotion to higher ranks (Petty Officer, Chief Petty Officer, etc.) based on performance and experience. The career offers excellent benefits, housing, medical facilities, pension and the pride of serving the nation.
